Meet Your Pet Sitter!
Hi, I’m Dominique — the owner and pet sitter behind The Everyday Pet.
Animals have always been a central part of my life, and that connection has grown through years of hands-on experience working with a wide variety of species and personalities. Before starting The Everyday Pet, I spent over six years in general practice veterinary medicine, along with time in pet boarding, where I cared for pets in both clinical and home-like environments.
Outside of that, I’ve been involved in foster work with multiple organizations and have participated in trap-neuter-release efforts for community cats. Through these experiences, I’ve worked with animals of all kinds — including dogs, cats, reptiles, fish, small exotics, and even wildlife — each with their own unique needs, behaviors, and comfort levels.
Over time, these experiences shaped not just my skill set, but my approach to care.
I’ve found that truly supporting a pet’s well-being goes beyond meeting basic needs — it’s about creating a routine that fulfills them both mentally and physically. Enrichment, structure, and individualized care all play an important role in helping pets feel comfortable, confident, and secure in their environment.
That philosophy is the foundation of The Everyday Pet.
Each visit is tailored to the individual pet, incorporating a balance of routine, physical activity, mental stimulation, and companionship based on their age, personality, and comfort level. Some pets benefit from interactive play or problem-solving activities, while others prefer a slower pace and quiet consistency. I always aim to meet pets where they are and build care around what helps them feel their best.
I also have a particular interest in working with pets of varying personalities, including those who may need extra time to build trust. Creating a calm, low-stress environment is always a priority, and I’m happy to move at each pet’s pace to ensure they feel safe and comfortable.
My background in veterinary medicine has also trained me to notice subtle changes in behavior, appetite, or mobility. While The Everyday Pet is not a medical service, that experience provides an added level of awareness and attentiveness during every visit.
At the heart of everything I do is the goal of helping pets live full, enriched lives — even during the times their owners are away.
I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your pets.
